The Donut King” directed by Alice Gu is a powerful documentary about Ted Ngoy, a Cambodian American refugee who survived the Cambodian genocide and helped usher in a culture of Cambodian donut shops in California

We’ll be screening this delectable film as our November edition of Lens On Life, followed by a conversation moderated by Munika Lay, with Gu and artist Phung Huynh who’s drawings and paintings on classic pink donut boxes unpack the complexities of immigration, displacement, and cultural assimilation.

Come early for light snacks, and stay for the movie and conversation!
