A new monthly film screening series, to be held on the third Wednesday of every month, in the beautiful 300-seat Barnsdall Gallery Theatre.
For our first screening of the series on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, we will be screening La Raza - a PBS SoCal Artbound documentary about the iconic bilingual magazine founded in the 1960s in East Los Angeles, and its role within the greater Chicano movement - alongside Razón de Ser: Luis C. Garza, a short documentary about Luis C. Garza, an intrepid Chicano photographer, and his work documenting Chicano culture and other activist movements, from Los Angeles to the East Coast and abroad.
The inaugural screening will be preceded by a small reception in the pine grove of Barnsdall Art Park, where light refreshments and snacks will be served. There will also be a book signing by Garza for The Other Side of Memory: Photographs by Luis C. Garza
