ONE BIG THING: HOLLYWOOD HUB GRAND OPENING

What Happened?

On Thursday, we were joined by Mayor Bass and community partners to announce the official opening of our new Hollywood Hub, CD 13’s new homeless services center, operating five days a week in the heart of Hollywood.

Funded by a $7.1 million State Encampment Resolution Fund Grant secured by our office, the Hub is a first-of-its-kind drop-in center delivering critical, day-to-day support and relief for residents in need, without requiring a previous appointment.

It’s the result of a collaboration with the Compassion Connection program at the Hollywood Adventist Church, and Homeless Health Care Los Angeles, and builds on the legacy of Compassion Connection and Homeless Health Care's work with individuals experiencing housing challenges, to expand on available resources and support.

Why it Matters

The Hub will serve as a crucial lifeline for unhoused residents from across the City, providing intensive case management services (ICMS), housing navigation, meals, clothing, showers, laundry services, and flexible problem-solving funds to unhoused neighbors in CD13.

After a soft opening in November 2025, the Hollywood Hub has already helped 34 people find some form of housing, and we expect those numbers to increase now that the Hub is fully operational. In those four months of operating at 50-75% capacity, the service center has already had a massive impact:

  • 32 individuals brought inside off the streets into interim housing
  • 42 pending housing referrals
  • 2 people have gone into permanent supportive housing
  • 3 families have been reunited with loved ones
  • 12 people placed in a recuperative care facility with wraparound services
  • More than 7,000 showers provided
  • More than 5,328  meals provided
  • Averaging 20 laundry loads per day

What's Next?

This is just the beginning, and our work is not done yet. The Hollywood Hub is part of larger strategy to address homelessness in our district, but we hope The Hub will set a new standard for homeless services in our City, by providing a compassionate, safe place where people can go and get the help they need to find housing, and dignity in their day-to-day lives.

Already, organizations working with the unhoused community in our district are referring clients to the Hub, and we have heard incredible responses from those unhoused neighbors.

Take it from Larry Owens, one of the clients who has been helped at the Hub:

“The Hub got me my housing back. I had a misfortune at my last place, and was hiding in a storage unit, until somebody told me to come here. Now I am finally in a new place and feeling fine. They are totally dedicated and on top of everything, so I am really grateful for their support.

The community-centered resource center is now open to unhoused Angelenos from Monday through Friday between 8am and 4pm. Residents can walk up to receive services or book an appointment directly on the Hollywood Hub website.
